Features of CAMAG-Cooptran® Application Software
“Any one can make the simple complicated; creativity is making the complicated simple.”
The challenge of book-keeping to meet the expectation of government approved/established bodies like cooperative Ministries, Auditors, Inspectors, etc (that exercise oversight and supervisory functions) has been a herculean task to many Societies.
These book-keeping challenges have made many Societies (even renowned ones) resort to various non standard ways of book-keeping: many embark on “computerisation” with the use of spread-sheet applications as a way of by-passing the “rigorous” and “tedious” standard statutory books, worse still, some societies go for web applications and site development in the name of keeping pace with technology. All these efforts, as laudable as they are do not wholly and properly solve the problem of the nitty-gritty of Cooperative Books documentation as demanded by statutory requirements for transparency and accountability.
This tactical departure of some Societies from conventional book-keeping standard and reporting format has exposed a lot of such Societies to different forms of inappropriate book-keeping practices (the major of which is lack of check and balances in books) that scare away so many would-be members, discourage prospective individuals from coming on board by making Cooperative System odious, sending wrong pictures to people outside of the (Cooperative) system and in most cases breeding suspicion, lack of trust among the very people in the system.
Human beings naturally resist change: little wonder some people advocate that the status quo be allowed to continue, automation is not feasible and needless in Cooperative setting.
A Co-operative is a group of people acting together to meet the common needs and aspirations of its members, sharing ownership and making decisions democratically. One thing any Cooperative member would want is just what any right thinking investor would desire: value on investment, security of investment, good return on investment, etc. It goes without saying that these are central values that made the core theme of establishing the maiden Cooperative Society some centuries ago.
Written, designed and packaged from the view-point of Cooperative System Users, Book-Keepers, Supervisory Authorities and other stakeholders, CAMAG-CoTS is out to totally simplify book-keeping to meet the expectation of government approved bodies by eliminating “rigours” and “tediousness” from keeping all standard statutory books and report formats among other automated features.
